WHAT TO BRING

Drawn Thread

This is a counted thread embroidery technique. Therefore it is stitched on evenweave fabric. It is based on removing threads from the warp and/or weft of the fabric. The threads remaining are then stitched and manipulated to create beautiful designs and textures.

Hardanger

This is also a counted form of embroidery. It is associated with the Hardanger region in South West Norway. Satin stitch is the basic stitch and is worked in blocks. When the blocks are completed the fabric threads are then cut and withdrawn as required. Patterns are then created within the open areas using a variety of stitches. It is traditionally stitched in white on a white background but it is fun to play with colour too.

“I haven’t used my sewing machine for years and was quite nervous about starting again. I needn’t have worried, the course was taken at my pace and there was loads of help from Anne. I’m looking forward to the rest of the training days in the ‘Block’ and have resolved to keep sewing!!”

Sally Johnson, Block a Month

“I booked the Block a Month early this year and it’s been fabulous. I have had loads of help from Anne and the team and feel much more confident in my sewing skills now. Let’s just say a few family members will be getting homemade Christmas presents this year. Next year, I may give embroidery a try!!”
