WHAT TO BRING

Month One

You will learn how to cast on and knit in the round. We will start with the ribbed cuff at the top of the sock moving onto the leg.

Month Two

You will be knitting the heel flap, with a choice of two stitches to use, and turning the heel and moving onto the main foot section.

Month Three

You will be at the toe now and will be learning how to shape the toe and cast off using Kitchener Stitch for a nice seamless end.

The cost of the class includes a 150g ball of Double Knitting Sock yarn, this is so that sock will grow quick enough and you can be ready at each stage. It also includes a basic sock pattern that we will be following.

What to Bring on the Day

You will need to bring a set of 4mm double pointed needles.

If you don’t have the needles, they are available to buy in the shop.

Tea and Coffee will be provided on the day. Please bring a packed lunch.

Dates

The classes run on the 2nd, 3rd and last Monday, the 3rd and last Tuesday, 1st, 2nd and last Friday and the 2nd and 3rd Saturday of each month. It is a rolling programme so you can start your 6 months at any point.

Costs

This class is £52 which includes all three classes, the printed pattern and your yarn.

“I haven’t used my sewing machine for years and was quite nervous about starting again. I needn’t have worried, the course was taken at my pace and there was loads of help from Anne. I’m looking forward to the rest of the training days in the ‘Block’ and have resolved to keep sewing!!”

Sally Johnson, Block a Month

“I booked the Block a Month early this year and it’s been fabulous. I have had loads of help from Anne and the team and feel much more confident in my sewing skills now. Let’s just say a few family members will be getting homemade Christmas presents this year. Next year, I may give embroidery a try!!”
