Embroidery : Stitched Garden Block a Month

This is a stitch as you go project and not a one-off stand alone class. When finished this piece will be a large birds eye view of a walled garden. There are sixteen different plots all outlined in different forms of stitching.

You will begin with the basic stitches and work more advanced techniques as you move around the garden. With each class, the next piece of the garden is revealed.

You will be growing cauliflowers, peppers, flowers and lots more and will finish with a goldwork sundial in the centre. As you work through this class you will learn basic surface embroidery, counted embroidery, blackwork, stumpwork, drawn thread, silk ribbon and goldwork. Each technique will be introduced as we work our way through the stitched garden. Your work will measure 25″ x 19″ when complete.

An example of the work can be seen on the right, click on each image to see the full-sized image.

“I’d never done any embroidery before and didn’t think I’d be any good at it but with Anne’s patient teaching I’m learning the basic skills and am loving being creative. I’ll definitely be trying more classes soon. ”

Sara Clarke, Basic Embroidery

“I’d done a little embroidery as a child but my skills were long since forgotten. The basic course is perfect for beginners, I found it gave me the confidence to try more embroidery skills. Great courses and a fun way to spend a morning.”
